DIY EAR 834p phono stage - a short evaluation/ test with those chinese PCBs. I managed to find the circuit - I would go with the Hammond choke, it's not expensive and does an excellent job (I ran a simulation); I'm sure others have used this part with good fileslib. Does you keyboard have tourettes? I had the 834p for years and found that it is not state of the art. I did do some mods including power cord, caps, resistors and some others I don't recall. The 834P sounded very good. I purchased a ASR phono pre which also makes music. The bottom line is that the 834P sounds great and has been around for many
Add modest $25 upgraded tubes and the EAR 834L Line Stage Preamplifier will shock you with its top-flight performance rivaling most preamps in the $4,000 plus range. Designed by Tim de Paravicini in his usual robust style, the EAR 834L Line Stage Preamplifier is the perfect match for any high-end system whether biased towards analog or digital.
The EAR 834L line preamplifier is designed to complement any of the EAR 834P phono preamplifiers and an EAR power amplifier or, indeed, any other high quality source or power amplifier. It has facilities for up to five line inputs, and offers a genuine tape monitoring circuit, making a total of six inputs. Those of us who love the sound of vinyl are very fortunate that his British company, EAR/Yoshino has produced the EAR 834P phono pre-amplifier at a refreshingly modest cost. Price: US$1895.00 in black or US2195.00 in chrome. The Outside. The exterior of the basic EAR 834P does not look very impressive.
