The Olympus Pen F, Pen FT and Pen FV are very similar half-frame 35 mm single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras with interchangeable lenses produced by Olympus of Japan between 1963-1966 (Pen F), 1966-1972 (Pen FT) and 1967-1970 (Pen FV).. The original Pen F has a double-stroke film advance and a distinctive logo rendered in a gothic font. The later Pen FT added a single-stroke film advance, and an fileslib. T he Olympus Pen FT, the icon of the half-frame camera genre, was the second iteration of the Olympus Pen F -series produced by Olympus from 1963 to 1970. The 35mm half-frame SLR film cameras, which include the Pen F (1963-1966), Pen FT (1966-1972), and Pen FV (1967-1970), were a unique design with features not seen on other SLR film cameras
This is one of a wide range of standard lenses Olympus made for the Pen F system, there where 5 in total: a 38mm f/2.8 pancake (see above), a 38mm f/2.8 normal model (only produced for a short time very early on in Pen F range), the 38mm f1.8 (the most common, and, some would say, the sharpest), the 40mm f/1.4 you see here, and finally the rare and desirable (though apparently not very sharp!) 42mm f/1.2, which is the fastest lens in the whole Pen F range.
Better still the all manual models and the ones which use selenium meters don't need batteries making them even more reliable. List of Olympus PEN Half Frame Cameras. Full Manual Control. Orignal Pen. Pen S. Pen W. Full Auto (Electric Eyes) Pen EE, EE2, EE3. Pen EE.S, EE.S 2.
